The Director of the school, David Matsiko, told us how the school day is necessarily short because of seasonal low lighting, and that they relied on Kerosene lanterns. This caused our Trustees considerable anxiety, and we set about raised the quoted £1400. The Priory Church of England School were particularly generous and the children did all kinds of sponsored activities on our behalf, raising the bulk of the money. We raised the balance on stalls at a couple of summer fairs.

Once the cash was in the kitty, work began. Within a week, cables had been run to all the classrooms, and chased down the walls to switch points. In the second week, the Inverter was installed and connected to the Solar Panel; the wiring from the classrooms was connected to the Inverter, and there was a ceremonial switch-on!

The only other application they have found for their electricity, is for running their printer: This has enabled the children to each have printed work sheets, exam papers, and other learning materials not previously available.
