Why Rugando Parents School Matters

Rugando Parents School in Uganda was founded in 2012 to provide a good-quality education for local children particularly child carers and orphans who are often excluded because they cannot afford school fees.

What began with just three classrooms and 48 children has grown into a school of nine classrooms serving 260 pupils, with students achieving strong results in national examinations.

In Uganda, most schools rely entirely on fee-paying families, and many children are turned away when payments cannot be made. Rugando Parents School receives no government funding, yet continues to serve some of the most vulnerable children in its community.

Our charity exists to support the school not only to survive, but to become economically and financially independent providing the tools, resources, and stability needed for long-term success.

This principle is known in Swahili as kuwezesha uhuruenabling independence.

How We Help

We support Rugando Parents School and its surrounding community through practical, sustainable initiatives that remove barriers to education and strengthen long-term independence.

Education Access

We help ensure children are not excluded from school due to poverty, supporting continued learning for pupils who would otherwise be unable to attend.

Safe & Supportive Facilities

We support improvements to essential infrastructure such as classrooms, sanitation, and accommodation, creating a safe and healthy environment for pupils and staff.

Long-Term Independence

We focus on sustainable solutions including food security, renewable energy, and access to clean water, helping the school and community become more economically stable over time.

Our aim is not short-term aid, but lasting opportunity built through education.
